Nina Cardinal - Technical Strategy Director at Heidelberg Materials in the UK
Nina has a degree and PhD in Materials Science and and has recently completed an MSc in Advanced Concrete Technology. She has worked for more than 20 years in the steel industry in R&D and senior technical positions before joining the cement industry. Her work focusses on low carbon and circular technologies for cement and cement replacements. She is actively involved in industry and standardisation bodies, both nationally and in Europe, and she works with customers to develop sustainable material solutions for concrete.
Richard Kershaw – Head of Technical Services, CEMEX UK
Richard has been employed in Technical and Quality Management for over 35 years in the heavy building materials industry. A specialist in ready mixed concrete, Richard is Head of Technical Services for Cemex UK responsible for a team Technical Managers who focus on product conformance, technical guidance and product innovation for concrete, mortar, screed, aggregates and asphalt. Richard sits on a number of British and European Standard committees and is the current chair of BRMCA Concrete Technical Panel.
Liam Forde - Manager - Infrastructure, Built Environment & Sustainability, MPA Ready-Mixed Concrete
Liam is a chartered civil engineer and is responsible for promoting and providing guidance on the most sustainable and efficient use of ready-mixed concrete. Prior to joining the MPA, Liam worked for civil engineering contractors both onsite and as a design manager, primarily in the rail and aviation sectors. At the MPA Liam collaborates with other organisations such as CONSTRUCT and the Temporary Works Forum, acting as the voice for use of ready-mixed concrete. He is the secretariat for the UK Concrete Social Outcome Task Group and is leading the MPA’s activities for the use of concrete in offshore wind construction.
Andrea Charlson - Senior Built Environment Sustainability Specialist
Andrea is a chartered environmentalist and engineer who has been at the forefront of circularity in the built environment for 15 years. Andrea’s focus within The Concrete Centre is to support the sustainable use of concrete, enabling greater circularity and highlighting innovation. She represents the concrete sector on British Standards committees and collaborates with other groups such as the Green Construction Board Waste and Resources Group and the UKGBC Circular Economy Forum.
