The use and manufacture of concrete is evolving, with numerous new technologies, and designs in development. This in person Concrete Futures event showcases innovation and case studies representing new developments in concrete and design. The evening will feature talks from leading innovators in architecture, structural design and concrete technology, including:

  • Jasen Gauld from Holcim UK who will present their recently completed project developing and installing an innovative lower carbon concrete mix incorporating biochar and spent coffee grounds to support a 12m high whale sculpture in Canary Wharf.

  • Alex Richards, Hollaway Studio and Ollie Wildman, Ramboll who will share their experience of designing, developing and delivering the Folkestone Skatepark, an impressive curved visual concrete structure in the heart of Folkestone, that aims to promote generational regeneration and was the first purpose built multi-storey skatepark in the world.

After the talks, the shortlist will be announced and awards presented to the winners of The Concrete Centre’s 2025 Student Design and Sustainability Competition, sponsored by Cordek Ltd.

The evening will be rounded off with networking over drinks and nibbles for all event attendees.
