BS 8500-1: Concrete – Complementary British Standard to BS EN 206 is the method of specifying concrete in the UK. It was first published in 2003 to align the specification, production and conformity of fresh concrete with BS EN 206. This guide has been revised to coincide with the latest amendment of BS 8500, published in 2023. The most recent amendments are predominately concerned with increasing the range of cementitious materials, in particular the use of multi-component cements which have increased the range of lower carbon concretes now available.

Please note: this publication has a cost of £15 for PDF and £25 for hard copy. In order to aid designers in their understanding of this important update to BS 8500, The Concrete Centre is providing PDF copies for free, up until 31 May 2024. Hard copies will not be available to order until 1 June 2024, however, we will be issuing free hard copies at both the Lower carbon concretes in BS 8500 event and at Futurebuild 2024
