This is Concrete: Building Resilience for a Changing Climate

The winter of 2014 was the wettest in the UK since records began 250 years ago. Globally meanwhile, 2014 was the warmest ever documented. Recent years have provided a wealth of record-breaking statistics, and the effect of such extreme weather on the built environment, and the populations that use it, has been dramatic. And although our future weather is likely to vary wildly, we don’t necessarily need complex technologies to ensure our buildings can cope.

Concrete and masonry construction can help provide flood resilience and help combat overheating. More information is provided in the This is Concrete magazine - Ahead of the Game: Building Resilience for a Climate with No Rules.

The magazine also features articles on Climate change resilience; whole life performance; high-performance homes and games with visual concrete.
