There is more to specifying concrete than just giving the strength, as quality and durability are also important considerations. The first thing to consider is what the conditions the concrete will be exposed to during its life and what is the intended life of the concrete element. There are then five methods of specification given in BS8500, the most common of which are using a designated concrete or a designed concrete – similar but not the same.
This webinar will explain the process of deciding the appropriate method for specification from the five given in BS8500, and concentrating on the designated and designed concretes, go through the specification process.
