RC Spreadsheets Version 3

Version 3 of the RC Spreadsheets software and user guide have been released to incorporate new and revised codes and standards for the design of reinforced concrete elements.

Version 3 now provide rapid production of design calculations to BS 8110 and Eurocode 2 and is up-to-date following the publication of Eurocode 2 (BS EN 1992-1-1), its National Annex for the UK and Amendment 3 to BS 8110 Part 1:1997.

2009 sees the release of updates to the The Concrete Centre's suite of RC spreadsheets. Besides corrections and minor revisions to 18 existing spreadsheets, a new spreadsheet, TCC22 FE Assistant.xls has been released.

TCC22 provides values of:

  • creep factors (Æ)
  • concrete tensile strengths (fctm) and
  • free shrinkage strains (µcs)

This is for use with finite element slab design programs in compliance with Concrete Society Technical Report No TR58 and BS EN 1992-1-1:2004. A Beta version of TCC 63 Core Wall Design has also been released. These releases bring the total of design spreadsheets up to 29 to BS8110 and 24 to Eurocode 2.

What does RC Spreadsheets do?

For the experienced engineer, the spreadsheets allow the rapid production of clear and accurate design calculations. For post-graduates and new engineers they encourage understanding of concrete design and help the gaining of experience by studying 'what if' scenarios. The individual user is able to answer their own questions by chasing through the cells to understand the logic used.

Since their release in January 2000, the RC Spreadsheets have proved to be enormously popular. They are written for engineers by engineers. The original spreadsheets have evolved and been added to and the usefulness and robustness of the product have been enhanced by users feedback. If you have any comments please let us know. You will be asked to login or register with The Concrete Centre website to use this free service.
