Post-tensioned Concrete Course

Post-tensioned (PT) concrete is increasingly being used in the UK, particularly for high-rise construction where the saving in the slab depths can make a big difference in the height of the building.

This course will cover the basics of design, the benefits of choosing post-tensioning, sizing of post-tensioned elements and the construction considerations. The course is designed for structural engineers with little or no experience in the design of post-tensioning.

Learning outcomes for delegates are:

  • Understand the benefits of PT construction.
  • Gain knowledge of how to specify a PT project, to be designed and built by specialists.
  • Understand the buildability aspects of PT.
  • Understand the principles behind the design of PT.
